This is my first solo exhibition and it consists of ceramic sculptures, video arts, drawings and a performance. The date of the exhibit is September 11th, which marks the first anniversary of the tragic attack against the World Trade Center, and the fact that I was in New York City at the time of the attack, is the reason I performed in the memory of this day. The ceramic sculptures consists of parts created from molds of my body. The video arts also contains parts of my body, but from places that the naked eye can't see, such as my blood, and vocal chords. The drawings are deformed eye sketches.
Departing point of the main idea was; the desire to see how my body could change it's movements by tension. We need to be aware that we possess the perfect organism and we need not to fear our own body but to express it with an open heart. By deforming my own body, I'm hoping to show that we must question ourselves not only psychologically but also physically. No fear is necessary. There is nobody else that you can admire more than yourself. We always try to satisfy our need for admiration by admiring others, but there's no need to look outside. One must turn within and admire her/his self the most! I don't know any other structure than myself which I am more aware of. Whatever the concepts of art and artist are, at this point they loose their relevance. They are just two of the millions of concepts which deserted the importance and admiration gained since the beginning of their time. Actually, these concepts can't go any further than imitating nature which we are also a part of. Somehow we end up imitating nature. If the rule of the game of creation is to imitate nature, then I've chosen to imitate myself.
